Full-Time Support Worker
Program: Residential
Status: Full-Time
Pay Range: $24.18
Location: Wiarton, ON
Hours of Work: 80 hours in 2 weeks. Afternoon shifts, 12-hour shifts every other weekend.
Benefits: Eligible for group benefits plan and RRSP group plan upon completion of Probationary period.
The care provider assists individuals with developmental challenges in leading lives that are deeply involved both at home and within their community. Collaborating with a team, the care provider seeks to identify and provide opportunities that allow the individuals under their care to participate actively in their community and engage in activities of their choice, whether that be work, recreational pursuits, or spiritual engagements. The care provider’s role includes encouraging these individuals towards self-sufficiency and guiding them to manage everyday duties and responsibilities on their own.
Support Workers at the Bruce Peninsula Association for Community Living are tasked with offering hands-on care and assistance to individuals who utilize the services of the organization. Their primary obligation is to foster an environment of safety and respect, ensuring the dignity and protection of everyone involved. The specific duties, responsibilities, and actions related to this role are detailed as follows:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Full Time Support Worker in Ontario Canada
- Strive daily to assist individuals by aligning your efforts with the guiding principles and objectives laid out in the mission, vision, and values of the Bruce Peninsula Association for Community Living.
- Assist every individual according to their unique needs, as outlined in their Personal Support Plan and Positive Behavior Support Strategy.
- Assistive strategy and any additional guidelines created for the individual receiving assistance;
- Assist individuals in the regions where support is necessary or has been sought.
- Precisely fill out all necessary paperwork.
- Implement the necessary measures to ensure and uphold each individual’s health, safety, and rights for their protection and well-being.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: Full Time Support Worker in Ontario Canada
- Possession of a Social Work or Child and Youth Worker diploma, or at least one year of experience in assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Proficient in writing and speaking effectively.
- Proficiency in interacting with individuals utilizing diverse modes of communication.
- An individual should show that they can work well within a group as well as carry out tasks on their own effectively.
- Demonstrated abilities in effectively handling emergency scenarios.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of Internet Service Providers, Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme Providers, the oversight of medication dispensation, and regulated procedures for handling certain medical acts.
- Establishing and putting into practice fundamental procedures.
- Having finished a well-regarded course in pharmacology is considered a valuable addition.
- Familiar and at ease with Internet technologies, social networking platforms, and messaging applications.
- Familiar with adaptive communication;
- Possesses a spotless driving history and is covered by liability insurance worth two million dollars.
- Dependable transport that is appropriate for carrying individuals is endorsed.
- Current First Aid/CPR;
- Current CPI certificate.
