Responsibilities
Assist the Store Manager by overseeing store operations as per the Company’s protocols, guide the team members to ensure they provide welcoming and efficient service, and help increase the store’s profitability.
- As part of the Store Management Team, the member is responsible for driving sales to ensure profitability by setting and reaching sales and profit objectives, managing budgets, and projecting future sales. The team member actively examines sales and financial data and considers economic patterns and community demands to recognize and adapt to market shifts, all while keeping a tight rein on spending. Additionally, the team member conveys sales achievements to the associates, helping them understand the implications of these figures.
- In conjunction with the Management Team, develops strategic operational plans, assigns tasks, and offers precise guidance to Managers and employees. Guarantees exceptional store environment by proficiently managing product displays, ensuring precise and market-competitive pricing, and upholding store practices that adhere to the Company’s rules and procedures. Rolls out new in-store initiatives following the Company’s strategies and assesses their impact to secure positive outcomes about the specific department (whether it be Front End, Back End, Fresh, or Operations) under the Assistant Manager’s supervision. An Assistant Manager is trained to competently perform tasks across all store departments as necessary.
- Implements and supervises the safeguarding of assets and adherence to safety measures; upholds standards of quality assurance; manages evaluations of safety and operations, while confirming adherence to Walmart’s policies and procedures, as well as to safety, security, sales, financial, and record maintenance protocols and methodologies. Predicts and actively addresses issues related to compliance, including Total Loss and general controls.
- Acts as a representative of the store by welcoming customers, soliciting their opinions, and addressing any concerns, grievances, or problems by Company policies to foster a pleasant shopping experience. As part of the management team, sets an example for, demands, and guides staff members on how to engage in courteous and effective customer service practices.
- The store endorses efforts that benefit the local community by actively engaging in community events and nurturing partnerships with important local organizations. It also takes part in store-endorsed projects, activities, and eco-friendly endeavors aimed at both employees and patrons, highlighting the store’s commitment to being a vital member of the local area.
- Guides team members by holding frequent store gatherings and imparting strategic guidance and plans, emphasizing the holistic approach to managing the store and seamless integration across all shopping channels. Fosters involvement, acknowledges achievements and incentivizes progress while presenting chances for career advancement. Cultivates the skills of all team members and spotlights those with significant potential, offering education and opportunities for skill enhancement.
- Exhibits the company’s core principles by ensuring team members are responsible through prompt, truthful, detailed, and courteous performance evaluations, as well as corrective measures and discipline when necessary. Fosters and maintains connections with support teams both in the store and at the district level, such as District HR Managers among others.
- Adheres to all of the company’s established guidelines and practices for managing all types of goods, such as alcohol, ammunition, drugs, and expensive items. Maintains proper control over cash transactions, with responsibilities involving up to $250,000 daily.
