Job Responsibilities

1. As a member of the Store Management Team, this position is responsible for driving profitable sales by meeting sales and profit goals and managing the budget and sales forecasts.
2. The role involves analyzing sales and financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to identify and respond to market changes while controlling expenses.
3. It also includes communicating sales results to associates and guiding their interpretation of the data.
4. In collaboration with the rest of the Management Team, the Assistant Manager creates operational plans and prioritizes tasks.
5. They provide direction to Managers and Associates and ensure the store maintains optimal conditions through effective merchandise presentation, accurate and competitive pricing, and adherence to store standards and policies.
6. They also implement new store programs according to company guidelines and evaluate their effectiveness.
7. The Assistant Manager is cross-trained to work proficiently in all areas of the store and executes and monitors asset protection and safety controls.
8. They uphold quality assurance standards, oversee safety and operational reviews, and ensure compliance with Walmart policies and procedures.
9. They proactively address compliance issues, including total loss and general controls. As a store ambassador, the Assistant Manager serves customers by greeting them, seeking feedback, and resolving any complaints or issues within company guidelines.
10. They model and enforce friendly and helpful customer service approaches to associates.
11. The Assistant Manager supports store initiatives to serve the community by participating in community events and fostering relationships with key community groups.
12. They also take part in company-sponsored programs and sustainability efforts to emphasize the store’s role in the community.
13. In terms of leadership, the Assistant Manager conducts regular store meetings and communicates operational direction and initiatives, particularly focusing on the OMNI and Total Store strategies.
14. They drive engagement, recognize and reward accomplishments, and offer opportunities for professional growth.
15. They also develop and identify high-potential associates, providing training and development to enhance their capabilities.
16. The Assistant Manager demonstrates the company’s values by holding associates accountable through timely and respectful performance feedback and corrective and disciplinary actions.
17. They also build and manage relationships with supporting functions within the store and district, such as District HR Managers.
18. In handling merchandise, the Assistant Manager complies with all company standards and procedures, particularly when dealing with high-value items like alcohol, ammunition, narcotics, and high-ticket products.
19. They also ensure appropriate cash controls, overseeing transactions of up to $250,000 daily.
